This week in my History of Rock & Roll class we had to present a song that we like and is from “today’s modern rock.” There were so many different varieties and it was a really cool way to introduce ourselves and our music tastes with it being only the second week of the semester. Anyway, I decided to present the video of Better Life by Conditions. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, especially my professor. After the song ended, he stopped and talked about them/this song for at least 10 minutes. He didn’t do that with any other songs and he’d only typically say “Okay, who’s next.” He said sooo many good things about them, “That drummer is amazing. The vocals and messages being presented are so great. The melodies, oh the melodies. They’re so good.” and so on and so on. I took his words very seriously though, coming from a musician and teacher himself. Definitely his favorite of the past two days, that’s for sure. After class I talked to him and he really wants me to do my main presentation on them now because he’s “enthralled and really interested in them.” Originally I was going to do my presentation on the Scorpions, a band I grew up listening to, but I can’t refuse to do a presentation on Conditions! So excited for it, and I’m even more excited that I got yet another person to love their music. Hopefully some other kids in class enjoyed them too!
